ISLAMABAD: The apex committee of the Special Investment Council (SIFC) has expressed firm resolve to continue operations against smugglers and hoarders and Army Chief General Asim Munir has reiterated his support for the government’s economic initiatives.
The eighth meeting of SIFC’s Apex Committee was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, in which the Chief of Army Staff, members of the Caretaker Federal Cabinet, Caretaker Provincial Chief Ministers and senior government officials participated.
In the meeting, the Federal Ministries informed about the progress on the projects in the key sectors and the timely completion of the expected investment, the apex committee of SIFC expressed satisfaction on the overall progress in various sectors.
The committee appreciated the finalization of bilateral investment agreements with Saudi Arabia and Qatar as well as the signing of memorandums of understanding and framework agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait and the enhancement of economic ties with friendly countries.
In the meeting, instructions were given to quickly convert the above-mentioned MoUs into economic reality.
The Apex Committee also reviewed the progress in the privatization process in the country and appreciated the mutual cooperation of various stakeholders in the timely completion of various important goals and gave directions to maintain the momentum.
The committee also reviewed the progress on various measures taken to improve the investment climate and approved various policy making to provide more convenience to investors including strengthening the domestic dispute resolution mechanism.
The meeting also agreed to speed up the construction of infrastructure to facilitate investors, especially in the remote areas of the country.
The committee appreciated the ongoing inclusive approach to meet emerging needs in key sectors of the economy, development of human resources, the apex committee of SIFC expressed firm determination to continue operations against traffickers and hoarders.
Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir assured the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army to support the government’s initiatives for economic recovery.
At the end of the meeting, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar directed all the stakeholders to vigorously promote the various initiatives of SIFC to ensure the completion of these projects within the stipulated period.
