US President Joe Biden signed a defense policy bill with an $886 billion increase in annual defense spending and for his defense policies such as aid to Ukraine and pushing back China in the Indo-Pacific region.
The US Congress passed the Defense and Policy Bill last week, an annual bill that includes everything from military pay increases to the purchase of ships and fighter jets, even to foreign countries such as Taiwan. Support for partners is also included.
The new bill includes a 5.2 percent increase in military salaries, and a 3 percent increase in the total national security budget to Rs 886 billion. The bill also prohibits the purchase of certain Chinese batteries for the US Department of Defense.In the new bill, extending US defense assistance to Ukraine until 2026, $300 million has been allocated for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024. which was rejected by the Republicans.
